Son of Tipton and Thursey Mahala "Martin" Collins, born in Douglas, MO. He told the story of his trip from Missouri to Oklahoma in a covered wagon when he was only a boy. Sometimes the prairie grass was taller than his head as he walked beside the wagon. He came with his mother and sisters. His family settled in Arkansas, where he met and married Louisa Boling, in July of 1898. They had nine children. He was a Mason.
