A beloved Meadowlakes resident and successful Marble Falls entrepreneur died following a snowmobile accident Friday in northeastern New York.
Gregory W. Gatz, 55, of Meadowlakes and owner of Designer Furniture Market in Marble Falls, died from injuries sustained when the snowmobile he was driving flipped as it turned into a parking lot from a road in the town of Webb, N.Y., about two hours east of Lake Ontario and the Canadian border.
Tyrone L. Thompson, also of the Marble Falls area, sustained injuries and was released from an area hospital.
Gatz was pronounced dead at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica, N.Y.
Gatz and his wife, Karen, were on vacation with a group of friends from Meadowlakes at the couple's second home in northeastern New York, said Dan Duggan, a longtime friend and employee of Gatz's at Designer Furniture Market, 1505 FM 1431, one of two local furniture stores owned by the Gatzes.
