Young married Addie Banghart on 4 May 1881 in Brooklyn, Poweshiek County. They were the parents of Bertha, Ernest, John, Carl, Harvey, and Chester. He married 2nd Nellie Francis Chipman (born March 9, 1885) on 06 Nov 1907 in Carroll,​ Iowa. They were the parents of Maurice Merle.

Dec 28, 1936 - Carroll Times - Young Moore of Glidden, 82, father of Carl Moore of Carroll, dropped dead of a stroke Sunday morning in front of his old homestead northeast of Lidderdale. County & state patrol officers who investigated the call said Mr Moore's car had run into the ditch a short distance from the farm and that he had started to walk when he was stricken. He dropped dead at the gate.

Mr Moore was on the way to visit this son, Harvey Moore, who lives three miles north and one mile east of Lidderdale. A short distance from his former home, now occupied by the Henry Underberg family, he abandoned the car and started to walk to the Underberg place. Howard Loeschan, newspaper delivery boy, found Mr Moore.

The body was taken Monday afternoon from the Huffman Funeral home to the family home in Glidden. Services will be held at 2 0'clock Wednesday afternoon in the Presbyterian church at Glidden and burial wil be in the East Liberty cemetery. The Masonic service will be used.

Mr. Moore was a native of Canada, where he was born May 29, 1855. For more than half a century he had lived in or near Glidden where he was a prominent citizen. He farmed for many years on the place now occupied by Henry Underberg, moving from there to Glidden.

Surviving Mr Moore are his widow and five sons: John Moore, Boone; Carl Moore, Carroll; Harvey Moore, Glidden; Chester Moore of Minnesota; and Merle Moore, Sioux City. He also leaves a number of grandchildren and one brother, Ross Moore of Clarinda.

One son and one daughter preceded him in death. Mr Moore was a member of the Presbyterian church and the Masonic lodge of Glidden.

Lidderedale Centennial Book: Young Moore was born on May 29, 1854, at Brampton, Peel Country, Canada. He was of purely Irish descent. He married Addie Louise Banghart. She was born on Jan. 22, 1864 in Jasper County, Indiana. They lived on a farm one mile north and one mile east of Lidderdale, Iowa. They had six children. Bertha Mae was born Feb. 6, 1881. She married Carl Rawstern. They had seven children together. Bertha died in 1926. Ernest Moore was born on Aug. 9, 1884. He married Emma Rodman. They had four children. Ernest died in 1930. John Ross Moore was born 1885. He married Zada Wood. They had three children. Carl Moore was born 1890. He married Agnes Peters. They had two children. Harvey Moore was born on Aug. 31, 1894. He married Bernice Chipman. They had two children. He died on June 19, 1942. Chester Joseph Moore was born on Feb. 22, 1899. He married Geraldine Gotsch. They had six children. He died on Jan. 17, 1953.

Addie died on Jan. 30, 1905, of tuberculosis. Young then married Nellie Francis Chipman on Nov. 6, 1907. Nellie was a school teacher at the county school across from the Moore farm. She was born in Glidden, Iowa, on March 9, 1885. She and Young had one son, M. Merle Moore, born on March 17, 1909. Merle married Velma Browning and they had two children, Merle died on January 25, 1995.

Young and Nellie rented their farm and moved to Glidden, Iowa in 1913. They were active members of the Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. Young was a third degree Mason and Nellie was a member of Eastern Star. Young died on Dec. 27, 1936, while walking from his stalled car to his old farm home for help. Young and his first wife are buried at East Liberty Cemetery. Nellie moved to Irwin, Iowa, to be near her son Merle. She died on July 19, 1980, and is buried at Irwin, Iowa.
