On April 15, 1933, he married Velma Browning, in Chariton. He worked as a court stenographer and court auditor, and lived in 28 different Iowa towns. In 1950, they moved to Irwin, and purchased the Farmers Savings Bank. He was a member of the Irwin United Methodist Church, and a past member of the Masonic Lodge, the Iowa Board of Realtors, and the Iowa Real Estate Commission. He died Jan. 25, 1995, at Rose Medical Center in Littleton, CO at age 85 years, 10 months, and 8 days.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and his wife, Velma, Feb. 16, 1994. Survivors include two sons, Larry (Kathy) and David; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Memorial services were held Feb. 4, 1995, at the Irwin United Methodist Church, with Rev. Joseph P. Boysen in charge of the service. "Tribute to Grandpa,' written by Julie and Kellie, was read by Julie.
