Vonda Clayson Sanford, 76, a homemaker, of Las Vegas, passed away Feb. 18, 2011. She was born Aug. 18, 1934, the eldest child of Leo and Ethel Clayson, in Hilliard, Wyo., and was a 48-year resident of Nevada. Vonda Clayson Sanford lived a full, happy life. She attended Brigham Young University and married John Glen Sanford in the Salt Lake Temple, Sept. 10, 1953. Vonda was a devoted wife and mother of seven children. Her family was central to her life. She was the president of Nevada American Mothers from 1988-1989. As a member of the LDS Church, she served as president of Relief Society and Primary, Inservice Leader and Temple Worker. Vonda assisted Glen in opening the Cherry Hill, N.J. Mission 1995-1998. She is survived by her husband, of 57 years, John; seven children, Steven, Brenda, Brian, Lee Ann, Julie, John and David; 26 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Sharon Crandall, Raenee Haymond, Carol Lee Underwood and Marlene Galbraith. Viewing will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Viewing again 10-10:50 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, with funeral services following, at 11 a.m., both at the LDS Tropicana Chapel, 2275 E. Tropicana Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89119. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, Utah.
