Velma P. Kimble, 64, a resident of Upper Tract, died Monday afternoon at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg following an extended illness. She was born Oct.25, 1924 in Smoke Hole, a daughter of Ethel Shreve Alt who survives in Upper Tract, and the late Osa Preston Alt. On Dec. 25, 1941 she married Mervin W. Kimble who survives. Surviving are five daughters, Sandra Borror and Bonnie Holloway, both of Upper Tract, Jane Huffman and Kathy Hartman, both of Franklin, Sharon Scott, Brandywine; four sons, Dr. J. Stephen Kimble, Petersburg, Richard Kimble and Ronnie Kimble, both of Upper Tract, Roger Kimble, Franklin; one foster daughter, Joyce George, Upper Tract; two sisters, Audrey Mowery and Ressie Kimble, both of Upper Tract; 33grandchildren, two foster grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three daughters, Barbara Sue, Peggy Lou, Paula Sue; and one brother, Clinton Alt. Mrs. Kimble was chosen as th 1986 Mother of the Year in Pendleton County and had worked at the Hanover Shoe Company in Franklin. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints.
