Batesville, MS - WILLIAM C. "Bill" McKIE, 93, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 after a brief illness. Mr. McKie was born in Tyro, MS to Milton Polk and Fannie McKie on August 26, 1917. After he served in the U.S. Army during World War II, he returned home to become a farmer and later moved to Batesville as the distributor for Sealtest Milk. He loved life, always had a smile on his face and never met a stranger. He and Macie, his wife of 56 years, enjoyed travelling around the country, especially "RV"ing in Southern Texas for many winters. Mr. McKie was preceded in death by his wife, Macie H. McKie, sisters, Mary Virginia Johnson and Frances Poag, brothers, Dick McKie, Bob McKie and Jim McKie. He is survived by his son, William C. McKie, Jr. and wife, Nonie of West Monroe, LA; one grandson, Carter McKie of Ruston, LA; two sisters, Nell Sherrod Shreveport, LA and Sarah Hyde of Madison, MS; several nieces and nephews, and special friend, Wilma Hentz of Courtland, MS. Visitation will be Saturday, February 19 at 1 p.m. at Dickins Funeral Home in Batesville, MS. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. at Dickins Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Pat Ludlam officiating.
