JAMIMA DAVIS
---On Thursday, October 9, 1902 at 12:30 p.m., Mrs. Jamima Davis, wife of A. J. Davis, deceased, closed her eyes in sleep that sooner or later must come to us all. She had been an invalid for months, suffering intensely, but her unfailing cheerfulness and unquestioning resignation have been to her kind loving friends who surrounded her bedside, unspeakably precious.
---She knew that she must die but was not afraid. Nay, why should she be? Does not death to a christian mean a new and better life?
---When quite young she united with the church of Christ and was a devoted christian throughout the remaining years of her life. She desired the welfare of the church always, and in former years, her home was a welcome place for the weary preachers of the Gospel.
---To all who knew her, no words of eulogy would add testimony to the excellent virtues of this grand, good woman. Indeed, her long life was well spent in that she lived for the good of others. How often has the writer been cheered and encouraged by the many visits she was permitted to enjoy with this dear friend?
---As a woman Mrs. Davis had but to be known to be loved, as a christian she had her heart "Purified by faith", and showed her faith by her works; as a wife she was faithful, devoted and true; as a mother, patient, kind and indulgent; as a friend, sincere and faithful, but the angels of love have borne her to that place where there remaineth a rest for the people of God.
---May He in His mercy comfort the bereaved, and may they feel that they now have a more precious treasure in Heaven than ever before, and a stronger tie to draw them to the Heavenly land.
