Willie Mae (Balch) Pichot, 91, of Lufkin, was born November 28, 1919 in Pleasanton, Texas, the daughter of the late Evelyn Bell (Franks) and Joseph Franklin Balch. She passed away Sunday, February 13, 2011 in a Diboll nursing facility.

Mrs. Pichot was retired from the Houston Independent School District, following 28 years as a teacher. She enjoyed square dancing and camping. She was a former member of an airstream club in Zavalla. Mrs. Pichot was an active member of Lufkin's First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dewey Kent and Faye Pichot of Palm Bay, Florida; son, Michael Fred Pichot of Lufkin; 3 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Pichot was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 70 years, Willie E. Pichot; brothers, Joseph Thermon Balch, Bobby Orville Balch and Dell Truman Balch; and sisters, Clarene Harvey and Marie Dehart.

Graveside services for Mrs. Pichot will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 18, 2011 in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park, with Dr. Andrew G. Pittman officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.

Services have been placed in the trust of Gipson Funeral Home.
