Willard D. Cain, aged 55, of Rt. 1, Walker, was found dead about 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, in a wooded area off Atkinson Road, about a mile and a half from his home. He had been missing since Monday. Police who investigated reported it was thought he fell when trying to cross a barbed-wire fence, struck his head, and died of exposure where he fell.

Cain was born in Wirt County, a son of Mrs. Christina Ross Cain of Walker, and the late Sy Cain. He was retired from the State Road Commission, was a veteran of World War II, and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by three brothers, Walden Cain, Chillicothe, O., Neville and Orville Cain, both of Walker; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Deskins, Vienna, and Mrs. Donnie Griffeth, Joplin, Mo., and by several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Franklin and Son Memorial Chapel, Parkersburg. Elder William F. Hawkes officiated, and burial was in the Kanawha Baptist Cemetery.
