---------ELDERLY LADY DIED SUNDAY P. M.
Mrs. Anna M. Haehl Passed Away
At Her Home After Five Weeks Illness
WAS NATIVE OF GERMANY
----------
Mrs. Anna M[arie] Haehl, age eighty-eight years, died Sunday afternoon at two-thirty o'clock at her home in Union Township. Her death was caused by a complication of diseases, with which she had been ill for the last five weeks.
She was the daughter of Andrew and Marie Theobold Kuhn, and was born in Germany September 29, 1832. She was the oldest of a family of nine children. When sixteen years old she came to this country with relatives, landing at New Orleans. The family went directly to Union township, Shelby county, where Mrs. Haehl had lived for sixty-seven years. She was a member of the Evangelical church in Union township, the church building being located on land that was owned by her. The present building replaced a log structure in which Mrs. Haehl worshiped when she first arrived in this country.
On September 8, 1853 she was married to Phillip Haehl. Mr. Haehl died thirty years ago. She leaves two sons, John H. Haehl, and Daniel Haehl, of Union township; two daughters, Mrs. Holbrook, of Union township, and Mrs. Charles Theobold, of Shelbyville; one sister, Mrs. George Haehl, of Union township, and one brother, John Kuhn, of Liberty township. Twenty grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at the Evangelical church in Union township Wednesday morning at ten o'clock, the pastor, Rev. Samuel Caldemeyer officiating. Burial will be made in the church cemetery. Stewart & Fix in charge. Please omit flowers.
