"Daniel Waterman was born in Kent, England on the 2nd of February 1838/1839, died on the 9th of February, 1911 being 73 years and 7 days old. He came with his parents to New York State in 1847 and came to Kansas in 1879. He was married to Sarah Smith in 1861 with whom he lived until her death. Only one child survives this marriage, Mrs. Alice Ball. He was married to Lottie L. Randall, December 6, 1875, which union existed to the time of his death.
There is left to mourn his death, his wife and four children; Alice Ball, Arthur D. Waterman, Bertie Reed, and Ethel M. Riley, who will miss the kind advice and loving affection of a kind and loving father.

There are also three brothers and one sister to mourn his death. He was a good neighbor and loved and respected by all who knew him. He lived many years west of Oak Hill."
