David Veatch Guthrie, of Julian, Pa., and formerly of Atlanta, Ga., died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte, Pa.
Born May 15, 1927, in Welsh Run, Pa., he was a son of the late Rev. Laurence R. and Mary C. Tuthill Guthrie.
He graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1949 and an MBA in 1952 from the University of Maryland. In 1961, he earned a CPA from Emory University, Atlanta.
David became a member of Central Presbyterian Church, Atlanta, in 1959. He taught Sunday school, served as a deacon and was Central's treasurer for many years.
He retired to Julian, Pa., in 2002.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, James A. and William R Guthrie.
David is survived by two sisters, Rosemary Guthrie of Sandy Spring and Elsie O. Cobun of Gwynedd, Pa.; two brothers, Donald F. Guthrie and wife, Janet, of Penns Grove, N.J., and Ronald F. Guthrie and wife, Leverne, of Edgewood.
A memorial service for David will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at Memorial United Methodist Church, 17821 Elgin Road, Poolesville.
All who knew David will cherish his memory.
