Mr. James A. Guthrie, 75, of Julian, Pa., formerly of Sevierville, Tenn., and Riverdale, died Friday, Aug. 14, at his home.

He was the husband of the late Iva Ruth Flynn.

Born Oct. 19, 1922, in Bellflower, Mo., he was the son of the late Lawrence R. and Mary Tuthill Guthrie.

Mr. Guthrie graduated from University of Maryland in 1951.

He was a charter member of the Smokey Mountain British Sports Car Association.

He enjoyed sailing and ocean navigation; U.S. lighthouses, their location and history; sports car rallies; antique automobiles; train history; coin collecting; and Civil War history.

Mr. Guthrie was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

Surviving are two daughters, Gwen Chamberlin and husband George of Julian, Pa., and Sharon H. Hubbard and husband Robert of Hampton, Va.; two sisters, Rosemary L. Guthrie of Berwyn Heights, and Elsie O. Cobun of New Paltz, N.Y.; three brothers, David V. Guthrie of Atlanta, Ga., Donald F. Guthrie of Penns Grove, N.J., and Robert T. Guthrie of Mount Solon, Va.; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Md. 109), Barnesville, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral services Tuesday.

Interment will be in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lupus Foundation of Pennsylvania, Western Pennsylvania Chapter, 1323 Forbes Ave., Suite 200, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15219.
