Shirley Klaris Burtz May 30, 1923 - Feb. 12, 2010 Shirley, a native of Chicago, IL was a resident of San Jose for 51 years. She was the winner of several United States National and California Silver Skates awards for speed skating. In 1973 she was inducted into the Chicago Roseland Pullman Hall of Fame. She also enjoyed baking and won numerous awards at the Santa Clara County Fair. Shirley met the love of her life, Gene Burtz, while working at Lockheed Aircraft. They were married for 59 years until his death on April 15, 2009. She is survived by her loving children, Terry M. Burtz (Nadia), Linda D. Higgins (John), and Shirley J. Morgan (Chris); grandchildren (Wendy, Casey, Carlie, Kelly, Jesse, Maryam, Arthur) ; and 7 great grandchildren. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Visitation and services at Darling-Fisher Chapel of the Hills. Visitation February 18 from 4 to 8. Services February 19 at 1 PM followed by internment at Los Gatos Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Shirley's memory to the Humane Society or to your favorite charity.
