Nicknamed "Maker of Champions." Head coach at U. of Southern California for 39 years, from 1909 to 1948. Most famous for his role as track coach, his teams won 12 national collegiate titles. During his tenure, USC won 33 national collegiate titles, 38 AOAU crowns. He coached 10 Olympic gold medal winners, and 36 Olympic team members.
