DECATUR - Paul F. Schahl, 79, of Decatur, formerly of Lake Fork, died Sunday,
Sept. 2, 2007, at Fair Havens Christian Home in Decatur.
Paul was born Dec. 20, 1927, in Lincoln, the son of Frederick G. and Florence Buttell Schahl. Paul was the postmaster at Lake Fork for 39 1/2 years until he retired in 1989. He previously owned and operated Schahl Grocery Store in Lake Fork. Paul was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Decatur, National League of Postmasters and Lake Fork Community Center.
He enjoyed playing bingo, cards, working
challenging times puzzles and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.
Surviving are his sisters, Dorothy (Weldon) Eeten of Emden and Patricia Schahl of Forsyth; brother, Donald Schahl of Decatur; five nieces; two nephews; three great-nieces; six great-nephews; and a great-great-nephew,
Tanner Leigh Paul Bishop, who shares his middle name with Uncle Paully.
His parents and brother, Robert, preceded him in death.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Decatur. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Lincoln.
