DEATH OF MRS. FANNIE BLACK
Pioneer Citizen of Carthage Passed Away at Aransas Pass, Texas
Mrs. Fannie Black, former resident of Carthage, died of paralysis yesterday at her home in Aransas Pass, Texas. About six weeks ago Mrs. Black suffered a slight stroke of paralysis and the first was followed by three others, each harder than the first. She lived only a week after the last stroke.
Mrs. Black was 78 years old. She was one of the early settlers of Carthage, moving to this city in 1868. She resided here until four years ago, when she moved to Aransas Pass, where her son, Rolland H. Black, has a position in a bank. She had a great many friends here, especially among the older residents of the city, and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew her. Mrs. Black's husband died here 13 years ago. He owned a fruit farm in the southeast part of the city.
Four children survive. They are;
Rolland G. Black
Miss Lutie Black
Mrs. Mabel Oliver and
Mrs. Frances Buckingham, the latter of Oronogo.
Mrs. Buckingham had just returned from Texas, where she was in attendance at the bedside of her mother.
The body of Mrs. Black was brought here for burial in the family lot in Park Cemetery.
Funeral services were held at the Knell's chapel
