'Reta Beth "Betty" Pack, age 79, passed away on Feb. 4, 2011, at her home in Naples, surrounded by her family.

Betty was born on March 13, 1931, in Vernal to Robert and Jennie Hunting. She married Dee Jay Pack in May 1955, and together they had one son, Wayne Dee Pack. Dee Jay died in 1990.

Betty spent her life in Vernal and enjoyed farming, raising mink, sheep, pigs, chickens, and for such a small lady, she could work circles around anyone else. She loved spending time with her family and has had a big part in the lives of her grandchildren and friends. She was a grandmother to all and a stranger to none. She was always cooking for and feeding everyone, and she made sure no one would ever leave her house hungry. Her big heart will be her legacy.

Betty devoted much of her life to tending for others as a Home Health Nurse Aide. She was not just a nurse to her patients, but a compassionate friend and caregiver. She helped many people in not only their homes but in her own, too. Betty also worked as a secretary for the Ashley Upper Irrigation Company.

She was a member of the Davis 2nd LDS Ward and served as a Cub Scout leader as well as a counselor in the Relief Society. In addition, during her lifetime, Betty enjoyed genealogy and decorated many cakes for weddings and other events.

Betty is survived by her son Wayne, grandchildren Mary Catherin Cope, Saige Davis, Amber Pack, Seth Galley, Jackson Reeves, Jamie (Timothy) Slaugh, Robert Pack, and Jennie Beth Pack, and 13 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Dee Jay, brother Lile Hunting, grandsons Gavin Mikhail Johnson, Max Mailing, and Jesse Cope.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at the Davis 2nd Ward Chapel with visitation one hour prior at the chapel. Internment was at the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of the Vernal Blackburn Mortuary.'
