SHREVEPORT, LA - Jack L. Dowden left this world to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday afternoon, February 3rd, as a result of a brief illness. Visitation will be Sunday, February 6th from 2pm until 5 pm at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Southside. Funeral services will be Monday, February 7th, 10am at Rose-Neath Southside with interment at Forest Park West. Services for Mr. Dowden will be led by Pastor Rick Edmonds of Calvary Baptist Church of Shreveport.

Mr. Dowden was preceded in death by his mother and father, Irvine and Maggie Lucille Wyatt Dowden, his brother, Gorman Dowden, and sisters, Odell Savell, Linda Gardner, Mary Lovelace, and Elvis Posey . Jack was also preceded in death by his much beloved son-in-law, Tommy Lee Adams.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 49 years and love of his life, Carolyn Ruth Clegg Dowden, his son, Randy Dowden and wife Danielle, and daughter, Traci Lee Dowden Adams. Mr. Dowden is also survived by his 4 granddaughters, Lauren Elizabeth Dowden, Lindsay Brooke Dowden, Jordan Alexandria Adams, and Kristen Mackenzie Adams. He was also survived by his 2 grandsons, Christopher Ryan Dowden and Bryan James Deshotel. Mr. Dowden is also survived by his sisters, Verna Clevenger, Margaret Causey, Jo Ann Nims and husband, Jean. Jack is also survived by a host of nieces, and nephews.

Jack is a 1962 graduate of Fair Park High School and served his country in the United States Army from 1962 until 1965. Shortly after leaving the military, Mr. Dowden began working for Riley Beard Industries as a project engineer and then Tri-State Drafting and Design. At the time of his death, Mr. Dowden worked for Johnson & Pace. Mr. Dowden also spent several years as a member of Caddo Fire District Six, serving as both a volunteer firefighter and Assistant Fire Chief. Serving as Pallbearers will be, Mr. Jimmy Causey, Mr. Jerry Causey, Mr. Chris Locke, Mr. Doug Thomas, Mr. Kevin Shelley, and Mr. Kevin Parker.

Jack was well known as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and loyal friend. His devotion to his family and loved-ones was the cornerstone upon which his strong family was built. Mr. Dowden held a strong love for his Lord and served him well. His family has no doubts that he stands, right now, in the presence of Jesus.

The family would like to thank Caddo Fire District Six and Life Air Rescue for their valiant effort to help Mr. Jack when he needed them the most. We would also like to thank the staff in the ER, OR, and ICU at Willis Knighton North. Your compassion, professionalism, and dedication to your profession were noticed by this family and do not go unrecognized. We would also like to thank Dr Fred Knight, Dr Prejean and staff, Dr Felicia and staff, and Dr Robert Hernandez
