Mr. Sammy "Arkansas" Henderson, age 63, died Wednesday, November 3, 2004, after a long illness at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Forest City, Ark. He was a retired vault service worker.
He is survived by a wife, Mary A. Henderson, Statesboro; one daughter, Celisa Goodman, Florida; one son, Oscar Henderson, Statesboro; seven brothers, John L. (Priscilla) Henderson, Atlanta, A.C. Henderson, Forest City, Ark., Roy N. Henderson, Alonzo Henderson, all of St. Louis, Ill.; five sisters, Mamie (Sonny) Ellis, Forest City, Ark., Cathleen Lawson, Rosana Henderson, both of East St. Louis, Ill., Doris Henderson, Alicia Henderson, both of Cleveland, Ohio; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild; seven brothers-in-law, John (Ruby) Mikell, Herbert (Marie) Mikell, Willie Mikell, Robert Mikell, Charles (Betty) Mikell, Thomas (Jackie) Mikell and Curtis (Marie) Mikell; four sisters-in-law, Henrietta (Ronnie) Brunson, Gloria Mikell, Irma Prescott, Ammie Mikell; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral service for Mr. Sammy "Arkansas" Henderson will be held Saturday at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 210 Bulloch St., Statesboro, at 11 a.m. Burial: Eastside Cemetery. The Rev. Gilbert Hall will officiate.
