Bertha Catherine Krieg was born 25 January 1888 in Lancaster Township, Huntington County, Indiana. She married Franklin Elmer Freehafer 24 December 1903 at Huntington, Huntington County, Indiana. She and Frank homesteaded in the panhandle of Oklahoma from 1903 to 1910 and then returned to Huntington. After Frank died in a railroading accident she married Delano Lincoln Trovinger 20 May 1935 at Crown Point, Indiana. Bertha was involved with the Democratic Party in Huntington, serving as Vice Chairman 1926-1934 and again in 1950. She organized the Democratic Women in 1930. In 1981 she sold her home at 424 E. Franklin Street and moved to Miller's Merry Manor where she lived out her life, dying 13 December 1984 at96 years of age.
