Funeral services for Edward Gaskamp, 76, of Route 4, Box 432, Brenham, will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Gay Hill with Pastor Virgil Pecht officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A devotion will be held tonight at 7 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Memorial Oaks Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Gaskamp died Sunday at 4:40 a.m. in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 30, 1905 in Zionsville, Washington County, Texas, the son of Heinrich and Sophie Stegmann Gaskamp. He was baptized by Pastor M. Haag on Jan. 14, 1906 at Zionsville. On March 20, 1921, he was confirmed by Pastor Karl Mueller at the Zionsville Lutheran Church. He attended Zionsville school. On Oct. 30, 1927 he was married to Sophie Reimer at St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Gay Hill by Pastor A. Weber. Mr. Gaskamp was engaged in farming and ranching. Survivors include his wife, Sophie Gaskamp of Brenham; two sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin and Bernice Gaskamp and Emil and Sylvia Gaskamp, all of Brenham; one daughter, Esther Gaskamp of Brenham; two brothers, Louis Gaskamp and Alvin Gaskamp, both of Brenham; four sisters, Mrs. Charlie Steinfeld, Alma Gaskamp, Elsie Seilheimer and Selma Reddehase, all of Brenham; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Daniel Gaskamp, Lee Stanton Gaskamp, Donald Gaskamp, Patrick Gaskamp, Jimmy Gaskamp, Philip Harrison, Lloyd Schwartz and Dee Huntsman. In lieu of the usual remembrances, memorials may be given to St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Gay Hill Building Fund.
