Funeral services for Louis Gaskamp, 85, of Route 4, Box 76, Brenham, will be held Sunday, Jan. 17, at 3 p.m. in St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Gay Hill with Pastor Virgil Pecht officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by Memorial Oaks Chapel. Mr. Gaskamp died Jan. 15, 1988 at 6:22 a.m. in St. Jude Hospital. He was born May 22, 1902, at Zionsville, Washington County, Texas, the son of Henry and Sophie Stegmann Gaskamp. He was baptized and confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church. Mr. Gaskamp attended Harrisburg School. On Oct. 27, 1929, he was married to Malinda Reimer in St. Peter's Lutheran Church. A carpenter, Mr. Gaskamp was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran church of Gay Hill. Survivors include his wife, Malinda Gaskamp of Brenham; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Ann Gaskamp of Brenham, Delbert and Laverne Gaskamp of Brenham, Harry and Janie Gaskamp of Sealy and James and Cheryl Gaskamp of Brenham; daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth and Jerry Clifton of Crowell and Gayle and Robert Machinsky of Brenham; brother, Alvin Gaskamp of Brenham; sisters, Selma Reddehase of Brenham and Lillie Steinfeld of Brenham; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, four sisters and one grandchild. Memorials may be given to St. Peter's Lutheran Church Scholarship Fund.
