Funeral services for William Garrett Hutchings, 79, of Sallisaw were held at 2 p.m.Monday January 26 1987 at the Vian Freewill Baptist Church. The Reverend Laymon Garrison, The Reverend Bill Hutchings, and the Reverend Vernon L. Smith officiated.

Burial was in Box Cemetery under direction of Wheeler Funeral Home in Sallisaw.

Mr. Hutchings was born March 14, 1907, in Tamaha, Oklahoma to Will Hutchings and Rosie Hayes Hutchings. He died January 23, 1987 at Sequoyah Memorial Hospital in Sallisaw.

Survivors include his wife, Era, of the home; four daughters, Wilma Phillips of Wister, Oklahoma; Virginia Garrison, Wanda Bennett, and Linda Venable all of Vian, Oklahoma; One son, Bill Hutchings of Piggott, Arkansas; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers, all were Mr Hutchings' grandsons: Gary Garrison, Bobby Bennett, Roy Bennett, Neal Rogers, Craig Bloomingburg, and Joe Tijerina.

Honorary pallbearers were Lewis Brockman, Raymond Newton, Fred Gossett, W.R. Smith, Armon Taylor, Maurice Anderson, and Dick Runyon.
