Jessie Anne MacRae was born 28th July 1883 at South Side River Denys, Cape Breton Nova Scotia. She moved with her family to Saskatoon around 1907. She was a graduate of the Saskatoon City Hospital School of Nursing and was a member of the City Hospital Alumni Association. She served in the 8th Stationary 1st and 9th Canadian General hospital in England and France during the First World War where she ventually survived the Spanish flu. She later moved to British Columbia where she died in Burnaby in 1967.
