Dora "Gladys" Hovland was born in a sod house in Lundsvally, ND, on September 17, 1909 the daughter of Siverin and Hilda (Moen) Hovland. She graduated from Lundsvally High School in 1928. After graduation Gladys moved to Minot and worked at Trinity Hospital in the lab.
She married Richard William Kaiser on February 4, 1933, at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot with Pastor Carlson officiating. Gladys and Richard had three children Sandra was born in 1940, Larry in 1943 and Richard in 1952. Her son, Larry died in 1970. Gladys and Richard traveled to Norway and Germany several times, as she enjoyed traveling.
Richard died on January 17, 1980, in Minot. In 1998, she moved to Edgewood Vista and in 2002, she entered the Souris Valley Care Center, Velva.
Gladys was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church and the P.T.A. She was very active with her church, the Lady's Aid, prayer chain; she also cut the ribbon for the Vet Center, Minot.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, son, Larry, parents, Siverin and Hilda, brothers, Hardis and Ervin Hovland and sister, Lillian Slotve.
Memorials are preferred to the Souris Valley Care Center at 300 Main St. South, Velva, ND 58790.
Funeral Service: Monday, March 24, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.
Visitation: Sunday, March 23, 2003, from Noon until 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
