Mary Elizabeth Gaston was the daughter of Judge James. B. Gaston and Janie Bentley Gaston of Gainesville, Georgia. Mamie was born on the 22nd of May 1887. Known as Mamie, was the sister of Georgia Taylor Gaston Dickinson Howell (1877-1968), John Emory Gaston (1879-1925), Carolyn K. Gaston Howell (1884-1971), Grady Hill Gaston (1890-1972), James Bentley Gaston (1890-1960), James Bostick Gaston, Jr. (1893-1958) and William D. Gaston (1903-1977).

Mamie married J. Albert Reed from Atlanta, Georgia on October 23rd 1903. They had two known daughters:
Janie Elizabeth (1905-1919)
Caroline Gaston {m. Pitts}(1908-1999)

Mamie died at her home in Atlanta on November 9, 1922 just 13 days before her 35th birthday. Mamie is buried in the Gaston Family plot along side her parents, brother John and her daughter Janie Elizabeth.
