It is with great sadness that the family of James E. Adams (Jimmy) announces his passing on Wednesday. January 26, 2011. He has entered into eternal rest, and is now reunited with his parents, brother Russell, and many other family and friends in heaven.
Jim was born October 29, 1942, in Illinois, being the third son of Frank and Jessie. He attended local schools, being class treasurer all four years and FFA president one year of high school, an assignment that he accepted and performed admirably.
After high school, he attended Western Illinois University before entering the U.S. Navy in 1962. He was first sent to Memphis, then Lemoore NAS in California. During his navy career, he was assigned to FAETUPAC. Upon discharge from the Navy, he remained in California working for Me-N-Ed's Pizza for 14 years, for Del Monte Foods for 28 years, and retiring in June of 2009.
He married Joanne (Hilkey) Adams in October of 1967, and they were married for over 43 years. Their family includes three sons: Bill Adams of Hanford, Daniel Adams (Melissa) of Hanford, Andrew Adams (Johnava) of Clovis, and one darling grandson-Tristan James Adams.
Jim will always be remembered as the quiet worker, who would go that extra mile to assist anyone. One of his greatest joys was to take the month of October every year and return to Illinois, where he helped his father and brother harvest their crops while spending time on the family farm.
A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday at the Hanford First Christian Church, at 3:00 p.m. Final burial will be in Illinois at a later date.
