GALESBURG — Russell E. Adams, 71, rural Alexis died at 1:42 a.m. Friday, Dec. 24, 2010 at St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.

He was born March 30, 1939 the son of Frank and Jessie K. (Leander) Adams. He was raised and educated in North Henderson and graduated from Alexis High School in 1957

Adams married Karen M. Olson in Springfield on Aug. 25, 1964. She survives.

Adams farmed his entire life, starting at the age of 10 with his father. He served with the Illinois National Guard for several years. He enjoyed hanging out at the B & B in Alexis with his friends.

He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in North Henderson.

He is survived by wife, Karen Adams; four children, Ann Marie Adams of Princeton, Tim Adams of Morton, Carlee Adams of Alexis and Carolyn Adams of Skokie; his granddaughter, Jazmin Sylvers of Skokie; three brothers, one uncle, one aunt, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010 at Hoover-Hall memorial Chapel, Alexis with Pastor Beth Hamilton of the Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Cremation will take place following the services with burial in Alexis Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call Wednesday morning after 10 a.m. at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis where his family will be present from 1-3 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Zion Lutheran Church or the Guardian Angels Pet Rescue.
