DEATHS AND FUNERALS

Funeral of Mrs. Sarah Soden.
     Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Soden, who died Tuesday, were held Friday afternoon in the Seven Day Adventists church. Rev. V. P. Lovell, of Topeka, conducted the services. Interment was in Maplewood cemetery.
     Mrs. Soden was born July 16, 1848 [sic, 1844]. She was married January 29, 1860 to Nicholas Lockerman, who died several days after their marriage [incorrect; he died in 1882]. She was married again June 10, 1885, to W. T. Soden who died 15 [sic, 18] years ago.
     Mrs. Soden was one of the early pioneers of Emporia, and came to Kansas when the buffalo were on the prairie. Thirty-one years ago she joined the Seven Day Adventist church.
     She is survived by a brother, John R. Davis, and a sister, Mrs. R. C. Davis, of California; one step-daughter, Mrs. Hallie Soden, and four grandchildren.
