Georgia Mae Parker, age 90 of Chesterton, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at the Life Care Center of The Willows in Valparaiso, IN.
She was born December 16, 1920 in McCool, IN to George and Gertie (Brooks) Fuller, who preceded her in death.
She was married on April 9, 1939 in Chesterton, IN to Willis C. Parker, who preceded her in death in 2004.
Georgia is survived by her sons: Kenneth (Vicki) Parker of San Diego, CA, Keith (Vanessa) Parker of Chesterton, IN and Kevin (Julie) Parker of Westville, IN; daughters: Carol (Paul) Pinkley of AZ, Rebecca (Frank) Heiner of Chesterton, IN, Betty Parker of Chesterton, IN, Sue (Jay) Ogle of Valparaiso, IN, Patricia Parker of Dallas, TX and Judy Dever of Elkhart, IN; son-in- law, Karl Himmel of Porter, IN; 22 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Norma Himmel; brother, Gilbert Fuller; and sisters: Gladys Carpenter and Goldie Johnsen. Georgia was a lifelong area resident and was a Charter Member of the Lighthouse Christian Church, formerly Chesterton Assembly of God. She was a former member of the Duneland Historical Society.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Chesterton, 434 S. 2nd Street, Chesterton, with Rev. Matthew Sigler officiating. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, January 29, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the VNA Hospice of Porter County, 2401 Valley Dr., Valparaiso, IN 46383 or to the Shepherd's Home for the Mentally Disabled, 1805 15th Ave., Union Grove, WI 53182.
