Anderson enlisted at Camp Holmes on 2 Oct 1864. He never reported for duty, and died just a four months later in Atlanta. He died of the measles. This information is from "North Carolina Troops, 1861-1865", a Roster, compiled by Weymouth T. Jordan, Ft. Raleigh, NC State Division Archives & History, 1990, page 386.

Anderson was the son of Isaiah Pickett b 1791 NC, and Phoebe McMasters b 1795 NC. Isaiah's parents were John and Hannah Vestal Piggott who were Quakers. Isaiah was the first to spell his name Pickett instead of Piggott. He married Elizabeth Davis 23 Sep 1847, and they had the following children:

2. Isaiah Jarvis Pickett b 1850
3. Eliza Ann Rebecca Pickett Barker b 1853
4. William Patterson Pickett b 1856
