July 31, 1999:

Capt. Clarence "Hap" Maddox, age 73, of Jefferson City, Missouri passed away July 13, 1999 at St. Mary's Health Center.

Clarence was born September 16, 1925 in Callaway County, Missouri, the son of Elbran and Margaret (Keely) Maddox. He was married June 14, 1946 in Fulton, Missouri, the son of Norma Jean Goodman who died June 3, 1999.

A lifelong resident of the Central, Missouri area, he graduated from Fulton High School in 1943 and attended Westminister College and was a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Washington, DC. He served in the U.S Navy and Army during the World War II and the Korean Conflict.

Clarence was employed by the Missouri Highway Patrol from 1933 until illness due to his retirement as a Captain in 1984. He was stationed in the Flat River and Montgomery City before he transfered to the Patrols General Headquarters, in 1961 he returned as a Director of Criminal Bureau. HE was a Deacon and member of the Memorial Baptiat Church and a member of the Retirees of the Mo. Highway Patrol Assn.

Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Dillon and Debbie Schrimpf of Jefferson Cty. and Beverly Sheridan of Steamboat Spring Colorado.son Gary Maddox Jefferson City, and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. C.D. Bulter officiatng.

Graveside services and burial with military honors will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens, Fulton Mo. Vistation from 4-8p.m. Tuesday at Freeman Mortuary.
