Wilhelm Arp emigrated from Hamburg September 4, 1872 on the ship Holsatia. He was listed as 23 years old and from Tiefbergen. He arrived at the port of New York September 18. He married Lena Wiese December 16, 1873.


Wilhelm Arp. Funeral services for Wilhelm Arp, 88, resident of Davenport for the past 40 years, who died at 3:30 a.m. Saturday at his home, 1448 West Fourteenth street, willl be held at the Runge chapel at 11 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Pine Hill cemetery. Mr. Arp was born in Germany, Nov. 3, 1850, was educated there and came to Davenport in 1872. He married Helene Wiese in 1873 and the couple farmed in Scott county until 1899 when they came to Davenport. Mr. Arp had been in the masonry business for 20 years. Mrs. Arp died in 1918. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Amanda Oldenburg, Mrs. Herman Kraft, Mrs. Henry Roggenkamp, Mrs. Robert Beck, all of Davenport, and Mrs. Otto Pahl, Muscatine; three sons, Henry, Peter, and Louis, all of Davenport; 30 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
