Effingham- Tommy Marion Altman, husband of Essie Curry Altman, died in Florence General Hospital on September 23, 1972. He was born April 5, 1905, in Williamsburg County, a son of John Franklin Altman and Linnie Morris Altman.

He had done sawmill and railroad work. He was a member of Hicks Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Survivors are: his wife of Effingham; a son, William Marion Altman, of Sumter; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Diane Taylor of Florence and Mrs Ethel May Day of Pamplico; four brothers, Kirby Altman of Sumter, Dennis Altman of Morrisville, NC, John Altman of Coward, and Troy Altman of Scranton; and a sister, Mrs. Birdie Mae Rayburn of Charleston.

He was buried in Hicks Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. Morris Funeral Home was in charge.
