NEWELLTON, La. - Services for Wilson Lindsey Coit, 88, of Newellton, who died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at Vicksburg Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. today at Newellton Union Church, with the Rev. Arthur Strickland officiating.

Burial will be at Legion Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Crothers Glenwood Funeral Home of Tallulah.

Mr. Coit was born Sept. 15, 1911, in Enterprise. He was a graduate of Newellton High School. He was employed at the Bank of St. Joseph and then at Fisher Lumber Company. He was owner of Coit Chevrolet Company and its accompanying John Deere dealership. He was a business partner with Burnside's Antiques. He was also a World War II veteran, member of the Rotary Club and Newellton Union Church.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Netterville Coit; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Coit of Covington, La. and Mary Lynn Coit McMains of Baton Rouge, La.; a son-in-law, Rep. F. Charles McMains Jr.; five grandchildren, Robert Sharp Forster Jr., Elizabeth Lindsey Forster, Francis Charles McMains III, Daniel Coit McMains and Cooper Greer McMains; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be his four grandsons and Frank R. Burnside Jr., Nathan O. Kifer, Alan Clyde Doyle and Julius Greer McMains.

Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Burnside, Ben Burnside Jr., Jack Mabry, Maurice Watts, William Welch, Jay Magoun, Pat Williams and James C. Wilkerson.

The family requests memorials be made to the Newellton Union Church, P.O. Box 265, Newellton, La., 71357.
