W.M. Ridgway 67, of East St. Louis, brother of J. H. Ridgway of Carbondale and his companion were instantly killed Saturday near Belleville, when an Illinois Central passenger train crashed into the coal truck on which they were riding. Several Carbondale people where on the train when it hit the truck on the crossing. Funeral services will be conducted at the First Baptist Church at Makanda Tuesday at 2 p.m. Burial rites will also be held at Makanda. Survivors are: several children, brothers: R. B. Ridgway, Cobden and J. H. Ridgway of Carbondale, half-brothers, John Carr of Carbondale and Sam Carr of East St. Louis, sisters, Mrs. Ellen Heern, Makanda and Mrs. Lizzie Clutts, Cobden. He married Huldah Wamsley on May 18, 1893 in Jackson Co. IL.
