Vida grew up with 2 older sisters, Ingrid Langley & Mary Krull and one younger sister, Klara (Clara) Dowdy. She had 5 brothers; Anton, John Frances, Ingvald, Melvin and Martin.
Vida never married. She took care of her mother when Marie got sick and died. And when her sister, Ingrid, died at the age of 37, leaving 6 young children behind, Vida helped her father raise 2 of the young girls (Marian 5 and Lillian 3). The girls lived happily with their grandfather and aunt until they grew up and left home.
Vida then took care of her father until his death at the age of 86 in 1947. Vida was loved by her large, extended family. She is buried near her parents in Bethany Cemetery in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
