Hanna City, IL - Ruby Jeanette Purdum, 87, of Hanna City passed away at 11:19 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at Farmington Country Manor in Farmington.

She was born Oct. 4, 1923, in Macomb, Ill., to Samuel W. and Blanche (Jennings) Hendrickson. She married John R. "Bob" Purdum in Macomb on Nov. 30, 1943. He survives.

Also surviving are her son, William (Julie); daughter, Kathy (Dan) Workman; two granddaughters, Lisa (Rob) Smith and Erin (Mark) Clark; four great-grandchildren, Sam, Kate, Ethan and Lauren; two sisters, Joan Ausbury and Kathryn Riley; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Jeanette worked at the Hanna City State Bank for five years and then worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 17 years, retiring in 1985.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Macomb.

She attended Western Illinois University Academy and Brown's Business College.

Jeanette was also an accomplished pianist.

Cremation will be accorded, with burial of ashes in Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb at a later date.
