MRS. EVA MAE MOORE

Eva Mae, youngest child of Elias and Amanda Fox, was born June 30, 1890, and died Jan. 18, 1958, at the age of 67 years, six months and 18 days.

He early childhood was spent on a farm near Jerome, Ia., but she received most of her formal education at Liberty, Mo. After finishing school, she returned to Jerome and married Julius M. Moore, Nov. 30, 1908.

They moved to Beech, Iowa in 1913 where they opened the depot for the new Rock Island Railroad which was just building its line through town. The town of Beech was built around that depot.

Mrs. Moore learned telegraphy from her husband and worked many years as an operator. She was instrumental in organizing the Beech Community church and served many years on the Consolidated school board. She was co-founder of the Ethel Sylvester clubs for girls and a charter member of the Entre Nous Study Club.

Mr. and Mrs. Moore moved to Chariton in 1932 and are members of the First Baptist church. They have two daughters, Mrs. Clarence Lundby of New Virginia and Mrs. Byron Hart of Des Moines and six grandchildren; the eldest granddaughter, Eva Mae Lundby is Mrs. Moore's namesake.

Although Mrs. Moore was ill for many years before anyone but her husband knew, she was always sweet and gracious to the public and most helpful and loving to her family.

She joined the church at an early age and her faith and spiritual guidance were real and constant.

Services were held at the Beardsley Funeral Home Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. Interment was at the Chariton cemetery. The Rev. John Bauserman of the First Baptist church officiated. Pallbearers were Rv. Martin H. Keast, Justice Charles Wennerstrum, David Johnston, Don Fuller, Charles Cross, Floyd Swanson and Paul Holmberg.
