Betty Burkhalter, 85, of Las Vegas, passed away Jan. 19, 2011. She was born July 2, 1925, in Wells, Texas, and was a resident of Las Vegas for over 20 years. She was a secretary, a seamstress and a homemaker. She was an active member of the Southern Baptist Church and had a strong Christian faith. Her husband, of 65 years, John, was a career Marine and she, her husband and three children traveled extensively with the military. She is survived by her husband, John; her daughter, Linda; her son, Michael; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother; three sisters; a sister-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carolyn; her mom and dad; her mother-in-law and father-in-law; her granddaughter, Dana; two nephews; and other family members and dear friends. She was a great wife, mom and grandmother. She was very energetic and full of life, always serving and cooking for an spoiling her family. We will all miss her so much and cherish all of our wonderful memories of her. She was "oh so" precious. Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, with services at 5 p.m., both at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will be at 1:20 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City.
