Violet M. Alltop, 86, of Ashland died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, at Crystal Care Center in Ashland.
She was born July 13, 1924, in North Fairfield, to Benjamin and Bessie Mae (Buck) Stark. Violet married Roy Alltop on May 16, 1942.
She retired from A.L. Garber Co. after 30 years. She was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church. She was a well-loved member and was the oldest member of the congregation.
Violet will be deeply missed by her children, Larry Alltop of Ashland, Linal Alltop of Casper, Wyo., Carol (Frank) Kochan of Lisle, Ill., Landis (Jacquline) Alltop of Montgomery, Ill., and Karen (Alan) Shire of Ashland; 20 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Donna Stoyka and Benetta Novak.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; daughters, Janice Nyberg and Virginia Kay; granddaughter, Amanda; great-granddaughter, Avery Kochan; a stepbrother and several sisters.
Funeral services will take place 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at Roberts Funeral Home, Ashland Chapel, 1058 U.S. 250 W., Ashland, with the Rev. Michael Thompson officiating.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 21, 2011, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ashland County Memorial Park.
