Gertrude R. Stuteville (1920 – 2010). Gertrude "Gert" Reynola Stuteville, age 90, left the loving arms of family and friends on Nov. 16, 2010, to join her loving husband, Marion, in heaven. The second eldest of eight children of Lammert and Tina Sangen Elenga, she lived her early years in a Nebraska farming community, making cherished friends and nurturing her younger siblings. In 1942, she married her true love and best friend, Marion E. "Gabby" Stuteville, and they enjoyed 63 years together. In 1955, they moved to Colorado, where Marion operated heavy equipment to build most of the highways here. At the age of 39, she and her husband took on a monumental task by adopting and raising three children, ages 6, 4 and 3. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to anyone with an open heart, she will be sorely missed. Gert was preceded in death by her husband in 2005; parents; brothers, Lester, Norman and Harold; and sisters, Fannie and Johanna. She carries on in the memory of her sister, Delores Hazen; brother, Reynold Elenga of Canon City, Colo.; three children, Doris (Nick) of Oklahoma City, Okla., Dennis (Cathy) of Valparaiso, Fla., and Claude (Gloria) of Jacksonville, Fla.; a number of cherished nieces and nephews; eight grandchildren, Trudy, Earl, Kevin, Jennifer, Brian, Shane, Dustin and Clint; and three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Ammie and Rowen; and countless family and friends who were fortunate in sharing their lives with her. A reception in Gert's remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at Imperial Funeral Home. Gert will be laid to rest next to her husband at Imperial Cemetery in Pueblo, Colo. Arrangements, Imperial Funeral Home.
