William J. Reed, a former resident of Pilot Knob, passed away July 7, 2008 at the Camelot Nursing Center in Farmington, at the age of 92 years.

He was born July 23, 1915 in Wayne county, Missouri to Samuel Brown Reed and Pearl (Williams) Reed.

On July 22, 1933 he married Lillian (Winters) Reed, who preceded him in death February 26, 1999. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Luther, Everette, and Lon Reed; four sisters, Gladys Anderson, Mollie Boring, Donnie Reed, and Etta Reed.

Surviving are: three daughters, Betty Ford of Celina, OH, Frances, Mrs. Harold Leydens of Jefferson City, MO, and Sharon, Mrs. Sonny Barton of Farmington, MO; two sons, Bill Reed, and wife, Roberta of Citrus Heights, CA, and Donald Reed, and wife, Martha of Ironton, MO; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and a host of great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Georgia Ahrens of Pilot Knob, MO and Helen Russell of Clark, MO; other family members and a host of friends.

Mr. Reed worked many years as a sawmill owner/operator and in later years he owned and operated Reed & Reed Lumber Yard in Pilot Knob. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Belleview at the time of his death.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 12th, at 11:00 AM at the White Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Miller officiating. Interment will be in Arcadia Valley Memorial Park in Ironton. Visitation will be held Friday, July 11th, from 5-8 PM at the White Funeral Home in Ironton.
