Ellabell - Hayward Bacon, 56, died Wednesday at his residence after a short illness. The Bulloch County native had resided in Ellabell for several years.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Willie Jane Bacon, Ellabell; seven daughters, Barbara Ann bacon, Mary E. Bacon, Michelle Bacon, Joyce Bacon, Princess Bacon and Tellewanica Bacon, all of Ellabell, and Patricia Bacon, Claxton; four sons, Willie C. Bacon, Starke, Fla., Lawnzo Bacon, Ronnie Bacon and Tavares Bacon, all of Ellabell; five sisters, Lillie Mae Boatwright and Shirley Mutcherson, both of Ellabell, Flossie Bacon and Henrietta Jackson, both of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Etta Mae Hall, Brooklet; one brother, Richard Shellman, Lanier; his stepparents, Lander and Ollie Mae SHellman, Ellabell; 17 grandchildren and two great-grantchildren.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Payton's Mortuary with the Rev. James Canty officiating. Burial will be in the Friendship Baptist Church cemetery in Brooklet.
