Inez Shepherd was born to Spence Atwell Shepherd and Martha (Mattie) Jeanette Reid on Jan. 9, 1888. Inez had lost both her parents by the time she was 8 years old. She was raised by her aunt "Mamie", Mary Ellen (Shepherd) Bridgeman and her husband Albert O. Bridgeman. She graduated from Cedarville College, Cedarville, Ohio in 1910. She married Joseph A. Finney on Nov. 19, 1914 in Cedarville, Ohio. They raised three children: Jane, Joseph A. and (Pete) Charles Finney.
