Jimmy Ray Buckskin was born on September 18, 1948, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Jess and Ella Mae (Sullateskee) Buckskin. He departed this life on Thursday, May 8, 2008, at his home, in Locust Grove, Oklahoma at the age of 59 years, 7 months, and 20 days. Jimmy was a member of the Locust Grove High School class of 1969. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, and later served in the National Guard. On October 20, 1969, in Biloxi, Mississippi, Jimmy and Janelle Nutter were united in marriage. The family lived in Altus, Oklahoma, where Jimmy worked in Government Services at the Altus Air Force Base. They have made their home in Locust Grove for the past 19 years where Jimmy owned and operated Jim's Signs. Jimmy enjoyed traveling to different churches, spreading the Word of God, thru his playing of and singing gospel music. As an avid OU fan, Jimmy loved to watch OU Football. He also enjoyed fishing. Most of all, Jimmy loved spending time with his grandsons, and would want his memory kept alive, especially for the younger two, Jett and Jyce. Jimmy is survived by: His wife: Janelle Buckskin of over 38 years, of the home; Children: Tracy Cooper and husband Shannon; Pam Glass and husband Demos; Amber Swarer and husband Jason; and a very special friend of the family, referred to by Jimmy as his "4th daughter": Neva Blakemore and husband Kevin; all of Locust Grove, OK; 2 sisters: Nancy Baker and Millie Littledave, both of Locust Grove, OK; 2 brothers: Thurman Buckskin of Locust Grove, OK; and Millard Buckskin and wife Melissa of Windsor, CO; Grandsons: Beau Cooper of the home; Noah Cooper, Jevon and Joshua Caldwell, Jyce Glass, Jett Swarer, all of Locust Grove, OK; and coming soon: Kannon Blakemore; God son: Roger Dale Garrett III of Salina, Oklahoma; Uncles: Joe Dean Buckskin of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Mixwater Buckskin of Kenwood, Oklahoma; Other aunts, uncles, other relatives, and a host of friends. Jimmy was preceded in death by: his parents; 1 brother: Gene Hart; and 1 sister: Tammy Wagnon. Funeral services were held 2:00 P.M., Monday, May 12, 2008, at Locust Grove Free Will Baptist Church. Reverend Richard "Duke" Pickup and Reverend George Littledave officiated. Interment followed at McClain Cemetery in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
