JOHN H SCHILLER

John never married. No children.

He worked under his Father for the Milwaukee Railroad from 1936 until 1941. During World War II, he served in the United States ARMY Infantry, as a Technician 5th Grade in Australia, New Guinea, and the Philippine warfronts. He was in six major battles. After the war, he briefly returned to the Milwaukee Railroad until 1948 when Gilbert purchased the G & S Store in Newburg and John left the railroad to help his brother operate it until 1972. They were well known in the area, especially for their Christmas Sales.

In 1939 John helped his parents purchase their home next to the streetcar tracks.

Both Gilbert and John were excellent at cooking and baking. John also volunteered as a ballot inspector during the National Elections.

They lived together in Cedarburg until July 1960 when Gilbert and John moved into the home they built for themselves, mostly by themselves, between the months of April and July of 1960.
