William was the son of James Chester and Katherine (McDuffy) Abbott. He married Ollie E. Miller on 22 Jul 1917.

W. A. Abbott, 66, Dies Yesterday In McLeansboro
W. A. Abbott, 66. died at his home in McLeansboro, on Thursday afternoon.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock at the Donelson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Rev. Luther Upton will be in charge of services.
Mr. Abbott had spent most of his life in Hamilton county where he served several years as circuit Clerk, and was well known to many residents.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ollie Abbott, of McLeansboro, and several children, Mrs. Emma Jane Smith, Mrs. Pauline Jones, both of Mt. Vernon; Mrs. Catherine Cremeems, Mrs. Lula Mae Byers, Mrs. Annabelle Draper, of McLeansboro. Also surviving are two sons, Frank Abbott, and Bill Abbott of McLeansboro. There were twenty-four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Willie Cole of Mahomet, Ill.
